ALOR SETAR: Solid waste disposal company E-Idaman Sdn Bhd (E-Idaman) will embark on a recycling programme, Recycle For Life For You (RFL4U), this year to help the poor in Kedah to have insurance coverage.

E-Idaman chief executive officer Mhd Saiful Anuar Zainal said the programme, in collaboration with YayasanSultanah Bahiyah (YSB), would see the poor collecting and presenting the recyclable items in exchange for insurance premium.

“We do not want money. They can come and present the items in exchange for their insurance premiums. This would cover accident compensation, accidental death benefit, hospitalisation and medical equipment.

“This underprivileged group must have the initiative to bring the recyclable items (to designated centres) to allow them to get insured under the scheme. We are targeting at 5,000 people in the first phase (of the programme) and will start with those in Kota Setar first,” he told reporters here today.

Mhd Saiful Anuar said the E-Idaman would cooperate with YSB to screen the eligible candidates and seek the consent of the foundation chairman, Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tn Sri Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah before embarking on the programme.

Earlier, Kedah Tourism, Local Government and Housing Committee chairman Tan Kok Yew launched the Bar Code Scanner System and Online Registration of ‘Recycle for Life’ Smart Card at Taman Desa Kubang Rotan. - Bernama
