KOTA KINABALU: A video that went viral on social media recently claiming a new locomotive was accidently dropped from a crane after it was shipped to Sabah Port in Sepanggar near here was actually a ballast regulator supplied to the Sabah State Railway Department (JKNS) for maintenance of the state’s railway tracks.

The department’s general manager Melvin V Majanga said the machine had not been delivered to JKNS and was still under the care of the supplier.

“What a gross negligence! An expert is on hand to verify the damage.

“JKNS will only accept the machine in perfect condition. Surely insured,” he said in a statement here.

In the video, the ballast regulator covered with blue tarp was lifted by a crane onto a lorry, but fell to the ground when the harness carrying it snapped. - Bernama
